Carrie-Ann Fleming has been running Tourism for All’s information service, based at the Vitalise call centre in Kendal, since October 2005. Carrie-Ann is a wheelchair user, with a fondness for travel, so has empathy with others who may have experienced difficulty in finding suitable facilities and services.
Carrie-Ann has written articles for several disability magazines, sharing her experience as a disabled traveler. Here is a short extract from one:
“Travel is one of my favourite things. I love the thrill of being somewhere new, full of people to meet and the excitement and anticipation that comes with being in a strange place.
For most of my life I travelled ‘mainstream’ – booking hotels through a high street travel agent, hobbling on to transfer coaches, rearranging furniture in the room to accommodate my wheelchair. It wasn’t until I started working for TFA that I realised travel can be made easier.”
Carrie-Ann’s work involves offering information on all aspects of accessible tourism and travel in the UK and overseas, from hotels to sources of holiday funding. She also runs TFA’s unique accommodation reservations service, as well as handling our Friends membership scheme, and sales of publications.
