Hunter’s Inn Wins Accessibility Award
The Heddon Valley’s historic Hunter’s Inn has received the “Accessibility Award” at the 2018 BeFactor Awards, hosted by Bespoke Hotels. Competing against over 100 properties from across the UK, Hunter’s Inn – a National Trust-owned hotel – was singled out for praise as a disable-friendly venue, located in an area containing two dedicated accessible routes, enabling all guests to explore the stunning scenery of the Heddon Valley and nearby Woody Bay.
Fully wheelchair accessible across its public spaces, with the self-catered disabled accommodation at the neighbouring Heddon Lodge furnished to a high standard, Hunter’s Inn was recognised as providing an attentive, relaxed welcome for all its guests, with the knowledgeable and attentive staff singled out for particular praise.
Alongside this, the surrounding area of the Heddon Valley and Carriageway is eminently explorable for all guests, with the National Trust partnering alongside Country Mobility South West to introduce two dedicated accessible routes, suitable for pushchairs and all-terrain mobility scooters. Two of these all-terrain scooters, known as “trampers”, are available to hire in the Heddon Valley itself, enabling all guests to access both the two mile route to Heddon Mouth, as well as the five mile trek to Woody Bay.
